These B-Schoolers made their
dream business a reality.
I’m a nutritional therapy consultant, strength coach, author, and podcaster. Before B-School, I was totally stuck with a dream to take my hobby blog and make it into a full-time gig, but I had no idea how I was going to make that happen. I was absolutely terrified that if I took that leap, I would make a complete fool out of myself. I would leave a job that was secure and safe and I would face the ridicule of everybody who would say, “I told you you couldn’t do that.” I had no background in business. All I knew was that I really liked sharing recipes with people and I wanted to find out how I could make that into something bigger. So that’s what I did.
I had been teaching high school science for 12 years. It was my first and only career. I’m not a serial entrepreneur. I’m not somebody who’s used to going with the flow. I was taught by my family that you get a nice, secure, safe job and you stay there for as long as you possibly can. I did that for 10 years until I started to get that itch. I spent almost two years thinking, “How am I going to make this happen?” Without B-School, I don’t think I ever would.
Because of B-School, I was able to turn my blog into a business. In that first year I grew my email newsletter list to 35,000 people and I did that solely implementing the things I learned from B-School.
I’ve also written three books. I secured a six-figure contract with a major publisher for the most recent one. I host a two times weekly podcast that’s been running for about four and a half years. Today it has two and a half million downloads. I have a collective community of hundreds of thousands of women that show up every week to read my website, listen to the podcast, and sit down and really collaborate and talk and engage with each other. It’s just such a blast!
In the time since I’ve had 16.4 million unique users on my website, and over 37.4 million page views, which is mind-blowing to me, but so cool that I’ve had the opportunity to reach that many people.
In 2015, I decided to take the next leap, which was to create a signature online course. I’ve learned so much from B-School and from Marie to help me evolve that program and really serve the people I want to work with. That program has generated over a thousand customers and almost $200K. It even inspired my new book.
To someone thinking about B-School, I would say this: I know what it’s like to feel afraid. Like your toes are on the edge of the cliff and you need somebody to push you forward. The thing you need to know is that when you leap, the net will appear. B-School gives you a foundation the first time you go through it, and every year after.
There’s a heart to B-School that I don’t think you can capture on paper. It’s the heart of Marie and the heart of all the people who are part of this collective community. We’re here to lift you up and support you and believe in you when you don’t believe in yourself. You’re not alone in this. You are here with so many other people and we’re all here to cheer you on and see you succeed.
