These B-Schoolers made their
dream business a reality.
In the Fall of 2015, I was laid off after having worked at a company that I loved for 10 years. It was a giant push from the universe to pursue my dream of having my own photography business, but I was scared and not really sure where to begin. Even though I had a vision for what I wanted, it felt really intimidating to take action and make the leap into becoming a small business owner. At that time, B-School and Marie came into my life, and as I researched the program and learned more about Marie, I knew in my heart it was the right investment for me and my business.
I began B-School in March 2016, and launched my photography business at the same time, with an additional launch of my greeting card line, “Tell it Well” in August 2016. In the past year, I have become a vendor for Whole Foods Market (currently at 13 stores, and working to expand) and have sold over $30,000 in greeting cards. In addition, I exhibited at the National Stationery Show in NYC, in May 2017, and was a finalist in the Best New Product Competition.
B-School and Marie helped give me the tools and expand my vision and perspective so that I could step into a new chapter of my life. In addition, the classes and community of entrepreneurs offered the insight and encouragement I needed to re-frame my vision for what is possible, so that my dream is now a reality.
I love Marie’s mantra of “Make Money and Change the World.” This is the heart behind my business as 10% of sales from my greeting cards goes to provide small business loans to women in poverty. I believe that Microloans = Hope and I want to be a part of changing the world for good, and helping to empower other female entrepreneurs as I continue to grow my business.
As I look forward to the future, I am so grateful to be doing work that I love. My business motto is “We All Have a Story to Tell. Tell it Well.”
Many thanks to Marie and B-School for giving me the tools to help me tell my story well.
